The search for the purpose of life has puzzled people for thousands of years. We keep asking ourselves questions such as “what are my goals and dreams for the future? Who am I on earth? What do I do with my life?”
In my interaction with many, both young and old, these questions keep coming up and only a few have discovered the answer to these questions.
The purpose of life is far greater and bigger than our personal fulfillment, happiness and even our peace of mind. It is day greater than our career, family and even our wildest visions and intention.
Discovering the purpose of existence does not just start by looking within yourself as proposed by many popular books, movies and sometimes seminars. You might have tried that already but never got the answer. This is because you did not create yourself, so you cannot tell yourself what you were created for.
If I’m handed a new device I never seen before, I wouldn’t know the purpose and the device itself cannot tell me either. Only the creator or owner’s manual could reveal its purpose. You cannot arrive at your life’s purpose by starting with a focus on yourself.
You may have your ideas. But it is God who leads you.
Pro 16:9 Easy English
You were created by God and for God. You must begin with God, your creator. Until we understand this, life will never be meaningful. It is only in God that we discover our origin, our identity, our meaning, our purpose, and our destiny.
Focusing on ourselves will never reveal our life’s purpose.
A man’s steps are directed by the LORD; how then can anyone understand his own way?
Pro 20:24 ISV
You were made for God, not the other way round. Life is about letting God use you for His purpose, not using Him for your own purpose.
