The Glory of the new covenant

The glory of the new covenant is so superior that the old faded into insignificance by comparison.

2 Corinthians 3:7 KJV But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away.

Was the old testament glorious? How glorious was it? The old testament has its Glory that is, the law and the Prophets was great because it pointed us to Christ. The veil prevented them from understanding the old testament as temporary and not permanent. In the case of Moses, the glory glory reflected on his face began to fade as soon as he left God’s presence, signifying how temporary the law was.

2 Corinthians 3:9-11 KJV 9 For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory. 10 For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth. 11 For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious.

The glory of the new covenant is so superior that the old faded into insignificance by comparison.

God promised the new covenant in Jeremiah 33:31-34, in which the law will be written in the heart of men and women. God’s plan in the new covenant is to give us life through His Spirit dwelling on our heart.
The law and the Prophets were fulfilled in Christ in the new covenant. Romans 4:25.

2 Corinthians 3:16-18 KJV 16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the veil shall be taken away. 17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
Whenever a person trusts the Lord, and believes in Christ Jesus as the fulfilment of the the law, the veil is removed completely from his/ her heart, and has capacity to understand and appreciate spiritual truth, because he/ she is a new person.
Whenever a person becomes a Christian, Christ Jesus removes the veil, giving freedom, eternal life, understanding and awareness that we cannot be save by the law and keeping it. Believers with unveiled minds can see the truth about Christ Jesus and transforms us as we understand and apply the Word.
