But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Hebrew 11:6
Faith is essential in our walk and fellowship with God. Our opening text talks about how impossible it is to please God without faith. In other words, the only way to please God is through faith.
So what then is faith? “Faith is a firm persuasion and conviction in God’s word regardless of the lack of physical evidence to support it or when physical evidence seems to contradict it”, as defined by my lecturer. The absence of physical evidence does not mean it does not exits.
For example: If you are to ask me of my car, and I show you the document of my car (which is just words printed on a paper) this does not mean I don’t have it because it’s not physically present.
For this purpose, having absolute trust and confidence in the word of God (bible) have been of great help to me. Our God is true and His words can’t be false.
For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. 1 Corinthians 1:20
The only way to know a man is by his/her words and actions. The character of God in words and actions revealed by His son Christ Jesus have built this trust in Him.
He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Romans 8:32
I formally thought, I was to inflict pain on myself in long fasting and prayer to catch the eye of God, but thank God for knowledge. My opening text reveals the key ingredient in catching the eye of God, that is faith.prayer is good, fasting is good but without faith it is impossible to please God. With this knowledge of faith, I’m more relaxed when in prayer as to the former because I know the character of God never disappoint, for His words are yea and in Him amen, glory.
I speak and make more confessions of God’s finished works in Christ Jesus, and it’s working bring positive result in prayer as to the former. Faith can only be seen in our words and it’s corresponding actions. (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. Romans 4:17.
And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. 1 John 5:15
For this assurance of answered prayers, I know my petitions have been had.
