There are three levels of relationships in any man’s life. The first is the general relationships, in the outer courts, you are friends with everyone. There are some of you, you meet someone in five minutes and you’ve told the person everything about your life, including the person you like, just in five minutes, the Bible says, “Be wise as serpents”. This relationship involves “Love your neighbor as yourself”, the access that you give people, that’s a general love that you show people.
The second is the family relationship, both your physical and spiritual family, that is a much closer level of relationship. There are certain things that you can be able to communicate in the church that you cannot say outside, because of the level of relationship.
There is a third level of relationship, called destiny relationship, some of you believe everyone should have a destiny relationship with you, that’s wrong. Concerning things of destiny, you don’t bring out cheaply for everybody in the name of friendship. Do not give everyone access to your life at the same level. It’s a rule you must keep if you want to be great. Not everyone qualifies for access to your life at the same level. You must separate your life and your destiny.
There are certain people that should only stay in the vicinity of the outer court of your life, they have no business passing beyond the outer court. You cannot afford to be friends with everybody. There are many of us who are so weak-willed, we are friends to everybody when God has spoken to you about certain associations. When God gives you an instruction and you don’t obey, you won’t hear His voice again, you will be hearing other voices.
Your next instruction is at the mercy of your last obedience.
If God doesn’t speak, many other things will speak; your desire and passion will talk and you will think it’s God. God talks to you at the frequency of your yielding and obedience.
“And David said unto Ahimelech the priest, The king hath commanded me business and hath said unto me, Let no man know anything of the business whereabout I send thee, and what I have commanded thee: and I have appointed [my] servants to such and such a place” (1 Samuel 21:2).
The king, wanting to do something, he knew that there were wicked people, the king was wise enough to know that not everybody is loyal. The king knew that there are people who can kill him if they want to, but he found a man, David, look at the level of relationship, he told David a secret and said, “I have already sent some servants to wait for you, go and meet them there, between you and them, nobody must hear this”.
There are people who telling them about your life is the same as going to the radio station. Most people will come into your life not because of who you are but what they can get from you, ninety-five percent of people you will meet in your lifetime. Genuine people are scarce. Don’t be deceived just by the church. The true proof of the quality of your association is when things are going bad in your life.
The Bible said Mary, kept these things to herself. When the angel spoke to her, she knew at that time, the persecution will be unbearable if she opens her mouth, so she secured her destiny by keeping quiet.
That is why challenges are very important because challenges purge your relationships. The king told David to keep quiet, and David was faithful. How many of us can say we are dependable and reliable? How many of us can say we are genuine? That we can be trusted with information, and we can keep our mouth shut.In your lifetime, be careful when people clap for you and say, “King of Kings and Lord of Lords”, because when things go wrong they will shout, “Crucify him”, and they will say it to your face. Many of us have not learned that wickedness is real, we have not been trained to be wise. You must not give everybody the same access to your life.
